Made in East Germany in 1957, "Rivalen am Steuer" - called "Sopernik Takes the Wheel" in this 1959 Russian release - was motor-racing with desperate, if gloomy love.
Well, it was East Germany.
Manfred von Brauchitsch, the Mercedes Benz works driver was apparently instrumental in the area of technical advice.
The poster itself is one of my all time favourites, at once bleak, in the depths of the eyes; alluring, with the vivid lips, and exciting with the motor-racing image.
Very, very, rare.
