Coupe des Alpes Rally, Original Poster 1962
Coupe des Alpes Rally, Original Poster 1962.
This one is a real rarity, printed in Italy for the 1962 Rallye Coupe des Alpes, giving the stage timetable for the Marseille – Brescia – Cannes jaunt. This is accompanied buy a lovely bit of artwork in the style of Geo. Ham, and which features a competing Ferrari and a Peugeot 403 Break service barge.
My picture of the poster has over emphasised the slight darkening on the right hand side – in reality it’s more like a very light shadow – and there’s a very little staining on the bottom right hand corner. ‘P’teena’ as Drew Pritchard irritatingly calls it.
The poster is printed on heavy stock and measures c.100 x 70cm.
The 1962 event went like this: https://www.ewrc-results.com/final/21778-coupe-des-alpes-1962/
Note the little BMW 700 doing well against much bigger opposition.
All in all, a real rarity at a not too ruinous price.
The smaller picture is also in the collection at the moment, and is Geo. Ham’s rendition of Citroen’s win on the ’59 Monte.
