Citroen ID19, Champion of Europe, Original Factory Poster 1959
When the Citroen ID19 won the Rallye Monte Carlo outright in 1959, it set up a string of successes that year, in the hands of Paul Coltelloni.
This factory poster celebrates the European Championship.
The poster is quite spectacular, utterly original, rolled, and not linen backed. There is very light foxing in places, and a couple of soft creases at the top. It measures c.34 x 44 inches.
The portrait of the Citroen ID19 over the flags of the European nations is very special, and its first showing will be at the NEC Classic Car Show in November.
For the uninitiated, the ID was the basic version of the DS, with manual rather than semi-automatic box, and no power steering, which means the Col Turini becomes a painful place ! More here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_DS
The three smaller pix are also ID19 originals, although the third was taken by Photo Junior in 1990, and is the Drivepast entry in the 1990 Monte Carlo Challenge.
